project one research: The police

For a lot of people the 1930's where a very dangers time for a lot of people with gangsters roaming the street and people getting shoot down in the street. The police where the only force that stood in the way of gangsters and the people and because of the growing crime in those times the police had to be smarter and better to keep the people safe.

Even thou though out the 1930's there where many cops that did they best they could do to help the people there where some that did a lot more for example Eliot Ness the man who bough down al Capone. Him and a team nicked named "the untouchables" spent months raiding al Capone stills to little effect until ness was

able to help to bring al Capone down for tax evasion.

project one research events: prohibition

One of the biggest and most well know events in the 1930'2 Americana was prohibition. This was where the government desired to outlaw alcohol. This law was the major cause crime in the 1930's cause a black market to pop up all over the country as the dammed for alcohol was still there. This gave gangsters a market where they could get money and power. At the time Americana was full of many different cultures and there was a growing number of crimes among the new cultures. The government believed that banning alcohol would remove this crime wave so in 1920 the government implemented the Volstead act witch banned the sell and consumption of alcohol. This bane lasted 13 years when its was replied on December 5th 1933. The main reason that prohibition was ended that year was because of the increasing number of organised crime groups and murders that where happening across the country like the St. Valentine's day massacre. these where just some of the many murders that plagued the 1920's and 30's. Prohibition will always remember at a failed attempt to stop people right to do what they want where there bodies also it goes to show that banning certain things will not help people but often makes things worse for them.  

project one research: 1930's people: Al Capone

Though out the 1930's there where many different events and people that effected the 1930's and changed its image for the better and the worst. One of the most well know persons in the 1930's was Al Capone he was a criminal master mind behind so many different crimes. Al Capone was mostly know for his smuggling of bootleg liquor and prostitution empire. He live and committed most of his crimes in Chicago from the 20's to the 30's even thou Al Capone was one of the smartest crime lord for his time he was final caught in the 30's by tax evasion of all things. Then in 1947 he died from a heart attack but he will always be remembered as the king pin of the 1930's and one of the most iconic gangsters of all time even inspiring films like the untouchables.

Project one research: 1930's American clothes

So for my first project I have to make a character from the tinderbox and have it so its set in 1930's American. I have been asked to research this time period so that I can get an understanding of the trends and styles of that time so first off I will be looking at the clothes that where worn in those type mainly the type of clothes men where as a male will be the type of character that I will be drawing.

when looking into the types of clothes worn in the 1930's the most common i found was a suit here are some examples of the images that I found:

It appears that suits like this where common in the 1930's but suits like this would have been for the rich or mid class works but in many different types of media 1930's gangster and police where often shown in these type of suits.

Well over all I thought the tinder box story was very strange. The main reason I thought this was because of how the story was told and how fast the story progress but the story is only meant to be short and told for children. Overall I like the story because of how fast it moved and the amount the story drifted from scene to scene.

When looking at the characters in the story there are many differences between each of them. The main character the solider goes throw a lot of changers in the story from rich to poor then rich again and even falling in love. The solider as a person seems to be cold and greedy for one example the solider kills a witch just because she asked him a question but he does what he needs to the survive.

The royals in the story the king, queen and the princess don't have much of a story behind them as they are more side characters but they do play a big part in story and have a big effect on the solider character in the story. The princess in the story falls in love with the solider and the king and queen are against this because there is meant to be a prophecy that the princess would marry a solider so they don't want this and locked her away. This shows that the king and queen are posh and think there better then the other characters as they don't want there child to mix with people who are not royal like them. This shows that they are upper class and don't want to mix with the common people. As for the princess she doesn't seem to think like this as when she meats the solider she likes him and dozen't think of him as a lower class to her and this shows that the princess is fair compared to her parents

When it comes to the story it seems to be a very strange as the story jumps from scene to scene. As the story progresses you learn about how the solider changes and goes thought different stages of emotion. Then at the end the solider must kill everyone so that he can save himself from being killed and this really shows that the solider is not scared to take life when he has to. Though out the story the soldiers changes as he gains more money he gains friends because of this money then when he loses his money his friends leave him and he turns to the tinderbox dogs for help with getting what he wants. He then use these dogs to help him get away at the end of the story.

My overall view of the story is that its a story about someone gaining everything they want and then see the effects of the choses he made unfold around him. When I think about the story i find it interesting but the writing style of the story I don't really like but its only a fairy tale.

really strange story but its a fairy tale have a read
For the project I have to design a character and come up with concepts on what they will look like. The character has to be someone from the story and as a challenge the character has to be set in 1930s America so ye that should be fun and hard

The project I have to do is:
.Do a short synopsis of the story and what it meant to me
.Research into america in the 1930s
.Pick a character from the story
.Change the theme of the story to 1930s America.
.Draw 50 silhouettes of the character in many different poses
All to be done by the 14th of October this is part 1 of the project out of 4

Welcome

So this blog is mostly gone be about work that I do in the three years corse at Norwich university of the arts. let me start off by saying I love games I have played them most of my life. I want this blog to be about the steps I took to learning how to make games. I have already done a collage corse in games design where I made my own game and done many other things around games. My main focus is to work in the game engine or become a 3D modeller. So hopefully by the end of my three years I will have a blog full with some crazy work lets hope. Thanks for reading
